President's Message

Hey everyone!

The summer picnic was a blast! We had great food, bubbles, music, a bounce house, and a lot of fun. Almost everyone was dressed with the theme in mind and some absolutely awesome hair dos. (Please ask to see some of the wonderful pictures we plan to post on the website, soon.) I think we all looked great. Thank you to all the ladies and their wonderful husbands for participating and helping to make this event a huge success. A special thanks goes to Wild Weston Bouncers for donating the bounce house and to McDonalds of Cameron Park for providing the orange drink with cups.

It is now August and the 2009-2010 school year is here. Time for school shopping and organizing spaces for homework or creating more space for indoor play. Remember, as you are weeding out the old toys, clothing, and clutter...that all your items could find a new home at the Annual GCM Garage Sale Fundraiser. We have three locations plus a storage unit, to store these items until the sale on Saturday, September 26th. We need volunteers for set-up, helping with the sale, clean up and taking the remainder of the items to be donated. So, please put a note in your organizers, to put in an hour or so to help your club and this fundraiser to be a success.

Hooray!! Hooray!! We almost have a full board. We are still in need of an Advertising Director and various coordinators (especially Bunco). You can try hosting an event or asking someone who is...how easy and rewarding it can be. All ideas are great ideas, so please come share them with our board at the next Quarterly Social, or just send an email at anytime to anyone on the board.

The "buddy system" - you used it when you were young and we teach it to our children, but do we use the concept for ourselves as parents? Do you have a group of "buddies" you can call on, in time of need or just to feel connected? Yes, Yes...you do...It is all of us, as members of Gold Country Moms. Please come to the events and meet others in our club and never feel you cannot ask us for help or maybe just a hug. These are difficult times and we could all use a shoulder or just to be reminded we are not alone. We are here for you, let us know what we can do to help you and/or to improve the benefits of being a member of Gold Country Moms.
